
As a vital platform for China’s opening-up and foreign trade, the China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, has undergone 67 years of prosperity and become a key fulcrum for enterprises to explore the international market.
The 133rd China Import and Export Fair kicking off from April 15 to May 5 in Guangzhou city of Guangdong province fully resumes on-site exhibitions and normalizes the operation of online platforms with breakthroughs in scale, products, quality and concept.
The event will optimize the scale and structure of China’s foreign trade, stabilize the global industrial and supply chains, facilitate the dual-circulation paradigm, accelerate the construction of a new development pattern and injects new impetus into an open world economy.
Largest in history
Covering a total exhibition area of 1.5 million square meters, the Canton Fair is the largest in history, attracting nearly 70,000 booths, 34,933 on-site exhibitors and 39,281 online exhibitors.
With a superb collection of products in 16 categories, it has set up 54 exhibition areas and 159 special zones including newly added sessions on industrial automation and smart manufacturing, new energy and intelligent connected vehicles and maternity and infant sector, smart life, the “silver-haired” economy that caters to senior citizens and testing and protective products.
The number of high-quality and characteristic enterprises including national high-tech enterprises, “little giant” firms — those specialized in niche industries with cutting-edge technologies and great growth potential — and manufacturing champions, has reached 5,700, setting a new record.
Enterprises have uploaded more than 3 million exhibits online including about 800,000 new products.
The scale of the import exhibition area has expanded to 30,000 square meters, an increase of 50 percent compared with that before the epidemic. For the first time, an import exhibition will be set up. A total of 508 companies from 40 countries and regions participate in the event, among which companies from countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative account for 73 percent.
Global promotion
The Canton Fair is open to both domestic and foreign buyers for the first time.
The number of global partners increases to 186, covering more than 100 countries and regions and buyers from 226 countries and regions have participated online and offline.
The fair has conducted the roadshows for overseas promotion and developed 10 routes to key areas at China and abroad for publicity.
It also boosts the docking of supply and purchase with more than 40 series of supply-demand matchmaking activities and special procurement meetings for imported goods.
It also invites the top 100 domestic retailers, well-known cross-border e-commerce companies, foreign-funded enterprises and agents of overseas enterprises to participate in the event, boosting the integration of domestic and foreign trade as well as the dual-circulation development.
